Where: We will meet at the Peggy Crosby Center to begin this 3.2 miles roundtrip hike. (348 S 5th St. Highlands) Parking is available behind the building as well as along 5th St.
Activity Description: Join us for a magical summer evening of night-hiking, crystal bowl sound bathing, and astronomical wonder with Maggie Rice and Stephan Martin.
The hike will start at the Peggy Crosby Center near downtown Highlands. Hiking by the light of our flashlights, we will climb steadily for 1.6 miles to the heath bald of Satulah Mountain.
Once we reach the summit, we will be rewarded with a nourishing hourlong crystal bowl sound bath meditation facilitated by Maggie Rice.
Following the sound bath, Astronomer Stephan Martin will guide us in an exploration of the cosmos as we watch closely for Perseid Meteors streaking across the night sky.
At around 11pm we will start heading back down the mountain.
Walking Distance/Difficulty: The trail has 700 ft of elevation gain over 1.6 miles (3.2 miles roundtrip) and is considered moderately difficult. This is a NIGHT hike. We will move at a moderate pace and walk by light of flashlights. The route consists of some road walking as well as some relatively steep and uneven sections of trail.
What to Bring: Flashlight or headlamp, water, snacks, comfortable hiking shoes, warm layers, and blankets. We have some yoga mats to lay on but please bring your own if you have one.
