New Moon Yoga Nidra
Yoga nidra (often called “yogic sleep”) is a guided meditation technique that relaxes the body and nervous system while maintaining a soft thread of awareness. This quiets the busy thinking mind and allows the body to experience deep rest. It is deeply restorative and accessible to all levels. This 60-minute candlelit event marks the last day before spring equinox and is designed to align with the quiet, inward energy of the new moon. We will begin with a few minutes of gentle, grounding movement to help release surface tension in the body, followed by a guided yoga nidra meditation lying down in a fully supported position. (Props will be provided, but feel free to bring anything that will help you get extra cozy.)

Smoky Mountain Yoga Festival
What: The International Day of Yoga is held every year on June 21 to celebrate the significance and power of yoga around the world. It is celebrated with festivals and events in 177 nations globally. We have our own festival right here in Western North Carolina: The Smoky Mountain Yoga Festival!
Now in its second year, the festival includes a wellness bazaar and an incredible lineup of instructors hosting an array of classes throughout the three-day event. Dōm will be there on Saturday June 20 with a Restorative Yoga and Sound Bath event at 11:15 in the Community Center. Join me and all the amazing practitioners at the festival!

Sunset Soundbath at Satulah Mountain
When: Monday June 29, 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Where: Satulah Mountain (meet at Peggy Crosby Center in Highlands NC)
Spend an early summer evening on Satulah Mountain with the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust. We’ll drive most of the way up before taking a short, accessible hike to the summit, where we’ll gather for a sound bath led by Maggie Rice of Dōm Healing and Wellness.
Once we arrive, you’ll have time to get comfortable, take in the view, and settle into the space. As the sun starts to drop, the sound bath will begin using crystal singing bowls in tones designed to invite deep relaxation a meditation.
A limited number of mats and blankets will be available at the top, but you are invited and encouraged to bring your own or anything that will help you feel more cozy lying or sitting outdoors (mat, blanket, layers, etc.).
This is a simple, low-key way to connect with the landscape, your body, and community.
+ the hike: Approximately 1 mile round-trip on forest trail with varied terrain and some elevation gain. Considered easy to moderate.
What to Bring: Water, comfortable hiking shoes, and comfy, loose, or stretchy clothes, and light blanket. Yoga mats provided (or byo if you prefer)
